Thanks to all my family and friends who donated to my fundraiser for the Children’s Inn at NIH. Last weekend, my mom, Dad, sister and I loaded up our mini-van with over $700 of non-perishable foods and delivered them to the Children’s Inn.
The Children’s Inn at NIH is a “place like home” for sick children getting treatment at the National Institutes of Health, or NIH. It relies heavily on support from volunteers, and on donations.
Since I am not old enough to volunteer at the Children’s Inn, I did what I could. I reached out to people I knew, and asked if they could spare food for my drive. Everyone said “yes” and we collected about 15 bags of food!
The food items will be shared with the families of the children staying at the Children’s Inn. These families come from all around the world, sometimes for extended stays, and the medical issues along with the visit can strain their budgets. Donations of food and other essentials can go a long way to helping these families.
